Identity Theft
I constructed this helmet by removing the inner parts of a Mac Plus and mounting an iPad where the screen would be. The iPad receives and displays live streaming video of my face from a webcam onto the screen. An integrated iPhone with video calling allows me to hear, see, and talk with others near the device. Collectively, the device explores identity theft, real-time communications, and retro-futurism.
After the project was complete, I worked with my friend DJ Kid Chameleon to use the helmet in his live performances. A video of the his performance with the helmet was posted on several mainstream technology blogs and quickly went viral with over 100,000 views in its first month online.
