Cosmic noise from the Big Bang continues to exist and can be observed using radio antennas. On a television, this noise appears as the “snow” on the screen when your antenna is unable to receive a signal at a particular frequency. I knew I wanted to use a similar effect in my visualizer, but unfortunately, my MacBook Pro doesn’t have a radio antenna but I was able to use a random image generator, a random number generator, and a pixellate patch along with the video input patch to create a similar effect.
This seems to be the best way to document this. Essentially this interactive video program presents my interpretation of my research into newborn and infant vision using computer generated visualizations and face detection software. This video was recorded live in the digital media lab at CSU Chico. Music production software triggers the music live based on MIDI controllers running within the program and the visualizer reacts accordingly based on the video program I constructed.
